MTFL 12 results: “The Surgeon” crowned champ, Dawody gets hometown main event

Muay Thai for Life returned to the Rondo Theatre in the heart of Gothenburg with the promotions twelfth event – and it may have been the best and most action-packed event to date as MTFL 12 delivered a new record amount of finishes!

From the very first bout until the last second of the main event the fighters dazzled the crowd with unforgettable moments of high-octane action!

The main event would see Gothenburg’s own Sam “The Surgeon” Ghoroghi claim the vacant MTFL ligthweight title following five clinical rounds with Slovakian champion Rastislav Klimacek. While Ghoroghi managed to control most of the fight, Klimacek fired himself up in the last round, rocking the local hero with a vicious strike. While the Slovak pursued the late finish, Ghoroghi showed what champions are made of, hanging on to subsequently score a decision win after full time.

It’s currently not decided who Ghoroghi’s first title defense will be against.

Heavyweight hero Zvonimir Kralj returned in the co-main event against Tom Watson from the UK in a bout that was destined to not go the distance. Watson was intense early on with a flurry of strikes but Kralj invested in calf kicks early, dropping the Brit twice before getting the first round stoppage.

Kralj now holds three straight wins, a #1 spot in the rankings and is surely not far from a title shot.

Dalian Dawody stepped up on short notice to face three-time Spanish champion Hadji Bubu Ndow. Though he faced early adversity, Dawody began landing brutal knees to the body, leading to a second round KO win.

Following the win an official announcement was made: Muay Thai for Life 13 will take place in Dawody’s home city of Karlstad with him getting the main event slot and a shot at the vacant MTFL super middleweight title.
