Muay Thai For Life 3.0

  • Date: September 10 2022

  • Venue: Partille Arena, Gothenburg, Sweden

  • Live on: DAZN

On September 10, the Muay Thai For Life Series returned bigger and stronger than ever. MTFL 3.0 – once again held in Partille Arena in Gothenburg, Sweden – marked the beginning of a new era as the promotion made its debut live on DAZN.

Prior to the event, MTFL signed an exclusive, groundbreaking broadcast deal with DAZN – the premier streaming service for fight fans with millions of subscribers – as the world’s first Muay Thai promotion to land on such a huge platform outside of ONE Championship.

With a world class fight card, adjustments to the broadcast team and a tighter production, MTFL once again proved to be a big player on the international scene rather than just a regional promotion.

In the main event, MTFL once again managed to secure a one-fight deal with a ONE Championship contracted fighter as ONE gave its blessings for Swedish Muay Thai superstar Magnus “Crazy Viking” Andersson to compete on home turf inside the Muay Thai For Life ring. Andersson, a former ONE Championship title contender and Lion Fight champion, squared off against Danish-Moroccan Youssef Assouik – a fighter with a massive resume to his own name, including several world championship titles in various organizations.

After a beautiful display of high-level Muay Thai action during the course of five rounds, Assouik proved to be the more technical fighter as his crisp striking and intelligent defense led him to a unanimous victory.

In the co-headliner of MTFL 3.0, Swedish Muay Thai and kickboxing champion Freddy Castro Gonzalez returned for his second fight in the promotion. Castro Gonzalez took on hometown fighter Robin Sundlöf, who was 2-0 in MTFL at the time, and won a close split decision as the two put on one of the best and most entertaining fights of the night.

Also featured on the card was fan-favourite Nicholas Bryant, who returned to the Muay Thai For Life ring for the first time since winning the WMC European lightweight title at the initial MTFL event back in 2021. This time, Bryant squared off against Denmark’s Johannes Bakke in a non-title bout that saw the Swede dominating from start and landing big knockdowns en route to a clear-cut unanimous decision victory.
